An Apple a Day

An apple a day's supposed to keep doctors away,
yet on my desk still sits an apple
...waiting...waiting...
until I sink my hard teeth into its crispness
so health is delivered.

Many apples I have eaten in my lifetime,
yet still to the doctor's office I go
...wishing...wishing...
that optimal health will be mine
with the next apple!

WHICH GROUP OF GOOD-OLE-BOYS DO YOU PREFER?

IN THEIR DAY THEY REPRESENTED BOTH GOOD AND BAD,

MOST HAVE PASSED: SOME AMERICANS HAPPY, SOME SAD.

POLITICS IS A TRICKY TOPIC-MAKES AN ENEMY OR FRIEND.

LAWS AND REGULATIONS SOMETIMES MADE TO FOLLOW OR BEND.

SINCE COLONIAL TIMES, MEN HAVE BOMBARDED THE ROLES.

IN MODERN DAY, WOMEN POLITICIANS ON THEIR SHOES WEAR OUT THEIR SOLES.

THERE IS NO RIGHT, NO WRONG, YET MANY A COMPROMISE.

I got home from work today and I was SO hungry, I couldn't help myself...I climbed into the fridge and began pigging out!

AMISH COUNTRY VACATION

What a wonderful time my husband and I had on our vacation!

We have done many things including: hanging out in Intercourse, Pennsylvania and watching buggies go by, traveling slowly down country lanes to view unlimited Amish and Mennonite farms, buildings and animals out on the land, and horses and mules pulling non-mechanized farm equipment. Went for a horse and buggy ride with a Mennonite man.

Went to Strausburg and took a train ride through farmland. Went to Gettysburg, where we were humbled and aware of the great sacrifice made by soldiers in the Civil War, and just how devastating that era was.

Today we went to the family dining restaurant named 'Good and Plenty'...it was good and there was plenty of food. We sat beside some folks from Sweden and on the other side a couple from South Carolina, Carol & Wayne. Had a good talk with the S.Carolina folks and made new friends, with an invite to come on down and stay with them sometime. They are our age, but have only been married one year. They have many children between them, several grandchildren, and one son lives in Vermont (next state over from us).

Back to Intercourse today, where Ray sat on the bench on the front porch of The Old Country Store and watched buggies go by. Inside, I gazed at the thousand bolts of colorful material. I chose three designs to get for table clothes. Since I'm not adept at sewing, I won't be making a quilt anytime soon. However, I went up to the Quilt Museum and snapped some photos of the intricately sewn heirlooms. Absolutely worth the $700 bucks they cost.

(Note: okay, I will use the faux quilt design on one of my fabrics to try my hand/patience at quilting. No idea how it will come out, but I've now got the urge to do so!)
