Welcome Reader:

Whether you've just now tuned in to my life, or have been keeping up with my inner thoughts for quite some time now,
I welcome you.

Though you may or may not be entertained by my thoughts, it is for MYSELF that I pen a blog.

As a writer, I enjoy expressing myself.
When I write long romance novels, I am inside my head so much, I forget to focus on reality.

By writing once and a while on my blog, when the mood hits me, I have the freedom to come and go.
To pull up a chair and order lemonade or an ice cream sundae.
To either gobble it down, or eat it ever so slowly...

...until it melts into a concoction that resembles mushy milk.

Pull up a chair! Have a read. I hope you enjoy it.
I do...and that's what really matters.

Fw: Greeting Card Drive - 2010

FYI - UPDATED

Dear Reader,
I was talking to Chelli Tennis earlier today. As a private citizen, I already donate soap each month to the Food Pantry. I want to expand my giving in a unique venue. I've come up with a way that the needy can celebrate birthday's (and other holidays) in their families and feel proud to give their loved ones cards.

I want to promote a Greeting Card Drive with the proceeds of $money or greeting/birthday cards to be donated to the families currently relying on Nottingham Food Pantry help.

Some of these families are really hurting. Buying cards for their family is a luxury and not affordable. Afterall, the price of a card could be more advantagously spent on a loaf of bread!

By providing these family's with birthday cards, their limited money can be spent on necessities: food and household supplies. These cards can be homemade gems or store bought. Donate one card or a box of cards!

Several collection sites are set-up for the donations: Nottingham's Blaisdell Library, Nottingham's Recreation Dept., Nottingham's Town Office, All Aboard Preschool and Childcare, Demon's, Liars Paradise, and Jenness Farm (Goat's Milk Soap).

Join me at Saturday's Town Meeting and help me make some homemade cards.

If you are a concerned citizen, a church or other town organization, perhaps you see this as a worthwhile outreach project.
I can be contacted at lisarayk@comcast.net

Regards,
Lisa Allen Kennard
(Please forward this on to anyone you think might be interested.)

Rattlesnake Mountain View

If you've got some free time on a fairly clear day, take a ride up Route 113 in the vicinity of Holderness / Moultonboro, NH.

Park in the small parking lot for the hiking trail "Rattlesnake Mountain." It's a hike of about 30 minutes...steep and full of roots in only a small portion of the hike. Mostly easy-going.

If you can snag some time to hike in autumn, you'll get a spectacular fall foliage show.

Your reward: THIS CLEAR SPECTACULAR VIEW OVERLOOKING SQUAM LAKES (ON GOLDEN POND)!

This photo was taken by my husband, Ray, who isn't the greatest photo-taker. Sometimes he cuts off my head or misses the subject of the photo I was hoping to capture. In this photo, the view makes up for any fault on his part.

In actuality, I should give credit where it's due. Ray took a very nice photo, so I cannot always say he isn't a great photo-taker. He has his moments!

MY BEAUTIFUL GREEN-BELLE DRESS

I'M REALLY LIKING THIS. I LOOK LIKE A SOUTHERN BELLE...
OR LITTLE BO-PEEP!

THINKING I SHOULD MAKE THIS MY PROFILE PICTURE.
I WORE THIS DRESS FIRST AT MY SISTER'S WEDDING.
I WAS THE MATRON-OF-HONOR.

THE HAT...I NEEDED IT IN THE HEAT OF SUMMER
WHEN I WORE THE DRESS AT NOTTINGHAM DAY.
I WAS A MEMBER OF THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY
AND THEY WANTED US TO DRESS UP FOR AMBIANCE.

SINCE THEN, I'VE WORN THE DRESS A FEW TIMES
FOR HALLOWEEN.

I LOVE MY DRESS.

AFTER 12 YEARS OR SO, IT FITS ME BETTER TODAY
THAN THE DAY I FIRST WORE IT.

I THINK THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST PICTURES OF ME...
I HOPE YOU AGREE!

Last Year a Melt-down...This Year Success!

I have been working at Tasker's Well Company since August 1992.
This year makes my 18th year as a devoted, hardworking employee.

Since the day I began working with my sister Diane at Tasker's Well, I have evolved from a mere secretary who wasn't sure of what to say to customers when they called, to a well-rounded, task-efficient worker. I can honestly brag that I perform more tasks at Tasker's Well than I thought I would ever do. I feel proud to be so useful.

Last year at this time I had a melt-down.

I had thought I didn't need my meds, but unfortunately I was wrong. I got so worked up and dysfunctional, that had I been employed by any other company, I'm sure I would have been fired.

Fortunately for me, my sister and my nephew were empathetic to my situation. They picked up the ball I so blatantly dropped. They dug me out of a hole in which I felt sure I'd be buried in alive.

Through their patience, they proved themselves to be compassionate. Through their skill, they proved that teamwork can shift into overdrive when needed.

Last year at this time...I had a melt-down.
This year, I'm months ahead of my usual accounting schedule.
This year things on the computer accounting program went so smoooooooooth.

I've got my head screwed on straight. I've taken my meds with a firm understanding that, through no fault of my own, I need them.

If you have debilitating anxiety and want help, don't be too vain to ask for help.
I did...and look at me now. I'm a productive member of a proud team.
And this team (headed by Techno-Curtis), has an impressive new website.

This is a Test...It's Only a Test

A Short Neurological Test

1- Find the C below.. Please do not use any cursor help.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCOOOOOOOOOOO

This is NOT a joke. If you were able to pass these 3 tests, you can cancel your annual visit to your neurologist. Your brain is great and you're far from having a close
relationship with Alzheimer.

Congratulations!

Amish Face to Face

Standing firm, both day and night,
amid the loved ones, amid a farmer's soil,
Statues to remind my honey and me
of the Amish land we often travel to see.

A simple way of life, they live
in the place were family and farm
are the only way of life,
for grandparents, kids, husband, and wife.

I knew honey and I wouldn't be able
to visit their land each year,
so these substitute people take the place
of seeing the Amish face to face!

BEAUTY IN THE SKY

THIS IS WHAT I CALL AN AWE-INSPIRING SUNSET!

THE SKY IS AFIRE AS
GOD PAINTS HIS BEAUTY IN THE SKY.

ALL SENSES FADE AWAY
AND THE BEAUTY OF THE EARTH
IS ALL THAT MATTERS
AT THIS VERY AWE-INSPIRING MOMENT.

THIS MOMENT IN TIME
IS TAKEN ON THE CORNER
OF ROUTE 4 & SMOKE STREET,
IN MY HOMETOWN OF
NOTTINGHAM, NH.

THIS PICTURE EMBEDDED
IN MY WEB PHOTO ALBUM,
IN THE ELECTRIC SKY,
AND IN MY MEMORY...

FOR MY MIND TO ALWAYS SEE.

Derailing Dwaylon - Fact or Fiction

An old friend from my service days has re-emerged.

This guy made such an impact on my life that I have never forgot him. We served in the Air Force at Edwards AFB, on the Mojave Desert, in California. We saw the very first landing of the Space Shuttle. Edwards AFB is near Los Angeles. Dwaylon was from L.A., and that is where he is now. I found him on Facebook!

We are opposites: he grew up in the city/I grew up in a small town; he grew up with Rock-n-Roll/I grew up with Country Music. Dwaylon's skin is dark/my skin is light.

But one thing is the same - we both had kind hearts. It is that quality about Dwaylon that allowed me to not see 'color' when we worked together, ate lunch at the cafeteria, and rode in his car to the Dental Clinic and back to the dorm each weekday. We worked closely at the Dental Clinic's front desk for about a year, making appointments, pulling records for the next day's patients, etc. When I looked at Dwaylon I just saw a cute, quality person who was nice to me.

In 2000, I began a novel called "Derailing Dwaylon". I'm bringing the story out of the dust. Currently, there are about 43 pages. When full-blown, it should be about 250 - 300 pages. Spent some time tonight editing a bit...I think I'll spend some time tweaking and see where it goes.

This story isn't necessary 'about' Dwaylon. I don't know enough about my old friend to pretend I could write details of his life, thoughts, actions, hopes, and dreams as a young man living in L.A in the 1960s & 1970s. However, I have an idea of how the Dwaylon of my imagination would live, think, act, hope and dream. It is this aura of the person I base my main character on.

And so, I will now work for a year or more on my novel and see if it was worth the effort. I will blend what I know and what I feel, be it fact or fiction.

Workin' Out & Beltin' Out my Theme Song

The second day of burning
was much like the first,
walking a mile,
swinging legs and arms in unison,
walking up a million steps,
then biking around the world
and back again...

All done to the beat of
soft rock music;
then like a miracle the best song came on;
the lyrics teased my brain,
for this song is the theme for my
current romance novel,
"Leo's and Priscilla's Evolution."

I longed to go home and bang it out
on my computer, to write and daydream.

Instead I closed my eyes and mouthed
the words, but in my mind I belted it out!

"Baby I'm CRAZY! I think you're CRAZY!"

I plan to begin editing my romance very, very soon!

Research on Sex

Guess what's showing on the History Channel?
The History of Sex.
Oh, those Romans and Greeks
were frisky devils...
and not just the men,
their wife's, too.

Our morals, for the most part,
have come full circle,
for now it's cool to be a virgin!

Naturally, I had no choice but to watch...
since I'm very history minded.
Besides, the info is research
for my book!

(I love saying that!)
(I get away with a lot!)

Emerging Muscles

Today was my first workout at
PLANET FITNESS...
I sweat at each machine for
ten or more moments,

depending on the burn in my muscles,
some muscles emerging from
long-hidden hide-outs.

First the well-trodden treadmill,
similar to my own down in the cellar,
next the tricky elliptical, that I worried
would hurt my back...(it didn't),
followed up by the stationary bike and
step machine,
that's like going up a mega-step-stairs.

Then to the thirty-minute circuit
with machines that put my
bones, ligaments, tendons, and muscles
to their test...even if my body wasn't able -
my mind was willing!

All the while I watched t.v.
and listened to the
radio with
the five dollars ear pods I bought.

I recognized someone from
elementary school, who's brother
BUNKY was my 'boyfriend' in
fourth and fifth grade.

I drank my water and wiped the sweat off my brow,
came home and in front of my husband,
two hours later,
I took a not so humble bow!

I will do this all again tomorrow
and Sunday,
and that will be the three days
in one week
required by my insurance
to get my money back!

And in exchange...I GET FIT!
Not a bad deal, is it?
