Welcome Reader:

Whether you've just now tuned in to my life, or have been keeping up with my inner thoughts for quite some time now,
I welcome you.

Though you may or may not be entertained by my thoughts, it is for MYSELF that I pen a blog.

As a writer, I enjoy expressing myself.
When I write long romance novels, I am inside my head so much, I forget to focus on reality.

By writing once and a while on my blog, when the mood hits me, I have the freedom to come and go.
To pull up a chair and order lemonade or an ice cream sundae.
To either gobble it down, or eat it ever so slowly...

...until it melts into a concoction that resembles mushy milk.

Pull up a chair! Have a read. I hope you enjoy it.
I do...and that's what really matters.

Cats and Dolls

Cats a'plenty, filling each box, napping, dreaming cat dreams, waiting for me to come home and pick the one I shall play with today.
It's kinda like dolls a'plenty, sitting on a shelf, staring, collecting dust, reliving in plastic minds and hearts, the days when I was little and came home to pick the one I would play with that day.
Cats and dolls, dolls and cats - vastly different and yet the same.
Keep me company on this melancholy day.

Perfectly Good Things for FREE

Out of the blue,
my husband got a phone call
from his buddy on Saturday.
Someone was at the Recylcing Center
in town, looking to give his 27" television away.

"Do we want it?"
"Does it work?"
"Sure, the guy's getting rid of it
because his wife bought a plasma t.v."
"Okay, we want it."
"How soon can you get here?"
"Be there in 10 minutes."

We got the t.v. home
and spent some time
hooking it up and figuring it out.

YES, IT WORKS! YES, IT'S BIG.

THANK YOU TO RICH FOLKS
WHO GIVE AWAY
PERFECTLY GOOD THINGS
FOR FREE!!!

"SCRUB BETWEEN YOUR TOES!"

I saw a picture of an baby monkey licking (cleaning) between his toes and it prompted me to write this:
My mother always taught me that hygiene is important. And of course, it is.
"Scrub behind your ears and in between your toes! Now you're ready to go..."
With my hair freshly washed and full of static electricity, and my ears, hands, and toes squeaky clean, I'm ready for the crowd. Off I go, in my car, to enter the circus, called the world.
Through my day I work and play. After watching a bit of television after supper, I head for my bath.
I sing the famous song, "Scrub behind my ears and in between my toes. Now I'm ready to go..."

THE BIG THAW

THE BIG THAW IS ON...MOUNTAINS OF SNOW EVAPORATING INTO VAPORS THAT VANISH INTO DROPLETS FALLING BACKWARDS TO THE SKY.

THE BIG THAW IS ON...COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE VIRGIN BLANKET PROVES THE STRENGTH OF THOSE WHO SURVIVED THE BLUSTERY STORM.

THE BIG THAW IS ON...PROVING THAT EXTREME TIMES CALL FOR EXTREME MEASURES...THAT THROUGH THE JOURNEY OF PLENTY NOW COMES SERENE WARMTH THAT BURNS OUR BATHING SUIT BODIES AND THAWS OUT OUR FORTITUDE.

THE BIG THAW IS ON...I'M ROOTING FOR YOU, SPRING!

CLAP AND CHANT

Red like a sunburned lobster;
comes the tide, in and out,
each month for ages upon ages.

Once it comes, it comes on strong,
once it starts, it continues...
...about a week;
twelve months of the year.

Offspring in the oven
is the only reprieve...
the more little ones,
the less tide...
feeling more at ease.

Years turn into a
quarter century and beyond...
bodies age, tides turn,
the redness drowns;
soon it will be done and gone.

Hurry...losing the
red tide can't
happen fast enough.

All hands on deck,
clap and chant...
'Bring it on, that
MEN-O-PAUSE!'

SHOW ME A GOOD TIME

THE OTHER DAY, I WORKED AT THE
CHILDCARE CENTER FOR
TEN HOURS WITH 12 TODDLERS.
YESTERDAY, I WORKED AT THE
CHILDCARE CENTER FOR
FIVE HOURS WITH 6 INFANTS.
TODAY, I WORKED AT THE
CHILDCARE CENTER FOR
TWO HOURS,
WITH A DOZEN OR SO
KIDS BETWEEN THE AGES
OF 1 1/2 TO FIVE YEARS OLD.
NO MATTER WHAT AGE...
...THE KIDS AT THE
CHILDCARE CENTER
ALWAYS SHOW ME
A GOOD TIME...

Ladybug, Ladybug, Turn Around

You've heard this children's song:
'Ladybug, ladybug, turn around,
ladybug, ladybug, touch the ground,
ladybug, ladybug, show your shoe,
ladybug, ladybug, I love you.'

Now hum this tune and picture ME,
at the childcare center, singing over and over
again, the ladybug song, and every other stanza
I change the 'ladybug' to 'bumble bee.'

At the daycare center there are two hats:
a ladybug and a bumble bee.
I have the kids take turns wearing them.
We all march around the two tables,
those cute little toddlers and me,
and sing and march until all the kids
have a chance to be one of those insects.
(Or until they lose interest).

Cheap fun? My favorite kind.
Actually, they pay me to have this
kind of fun. Amazing!

Puzzle-Pieces

...we were given a puzzle...it's been years since...we've put one...together... outside edges first...consolidating hues of pink...yellow...blue...eyes strain...imagining little curves...that might fit...until each little piece...attached...constitutes the whole...

GUITAR PRESENT

FOR HER BIRTHDAY WE GAVE HER A GUITAR. SHE'D HINTED AROUND LONG ENOUGH THAT IT WOULD BE THE GREATEST PRESENT.

HIDDEN IN A CLOSEST AND WRAPPED FOR SAFETY, WHEN MY NIECE OPENED IT, SHE SMILED WITH GLEE. SHE WANTED TO PLAY WITH IT IMMEDIATELY.

WE GAVE HER A GUITAR. SHE GIVES US A WORLD OF HAPPINESS.

...OH, THE SMALL PLEASURES IN LIFE...

Like My Cat

I was like my cat, resting lazily through the day,
No major chores...free to frolic and play.
Lay in the sun or lounge on the couch, you see,
Whether I napped or played with a ball on a string,
it was really up to me.
I was like my cat today, resting, napping, playing.
No major chores, so I was singing, dancing, and playing.

Snowflakes...Snowballs...RELAX!

Snowflakes fall,
starting as little
non-threatening forms.
When two snowflakes
stick together, they multiply.
A snowball forms.
The snowball grows bigger.
DOWN THE HILL
THE SNOWBALL ROLLS,
THREATENING TO
DESTROY ANY INNOCENT
THING LYING IN ITS PATH.
A giant puts out his hand.
He touches the ball.
It stops.
No more rolling.
No more destroying.
The unstoppable is stopped.

The damage assessed.
ALL IS WELL...ALL IS WELL...
ALL IS WELL...RELAX!

SIT, LISTEN, ABSORB

Sitting, listening, absorbing,
hearing what is said,
but not taking it to heart,
because these situations
happened long before I came...

It is the same everywhere,
companies and employees
airing out idiosyncrasies
that left un-dealt with,
deteriorate fragile walls...

I sat, I listened, I absorbed,
hearing what this one and that one said,
but not taking their troubles to heart,
because I'm an outsider,
who just happened to come along...
